Spirit of Make-a-Wish, seen here taking position on runway 24 left.
Another of American's airplanes wearing the breast cancer pink ribbon; this is a B752. If you look closely, you can see that they're just about to push back from the gate, which in this case happens to be 42B.
Japan Airlines is a supporter of
UNICEF (United Nations Children's Fund), and all of their aircraft that I've seen wear the "We support UNICEF" marking. On Japan Air's international flights, spare change is collected as part of the "
Change for Good" campaign. Japan Air is one of a dozen participating airlines; others we see at LAX include American, British Airways, All Nippon, Qantas, Asiana, and Cathay Pacific. This Japan B744 carries the Yokoso Japan logo; in Japanese 'yokoso' means 'welcome', and it's part of an initiative by the Japanese National Tourist Organization to encourage more visitors to Japan.
