No Effort November: Who's that?

Regular watchers on the hill in El Segundo may have noticed recently that LAX has an unusual business jet that arrives several times a day. But instead of parking on the south side with all the other corporate and general aviation aircraft, this one makes a right turn off the runway and eventually disappears amid the terminals on the north side. What's up with that?

Here's yet another refugee from the draft folder, this time from 2018. This airline stepped in to fly from LAX to Carlsbad, California (a town about halfway between Los Angeles and San Diego) when SkyWest retired their fleet of E120 Brasilia turboprops. The E120 was the only aircraft in the SkyWest fleet that could operate in and out of the airport in Carlsbad, so when the type was phased out, service to Carlsbad was discontinued. I don't recall the name of this airline, but they operated a Dornier 328 from Gate 38 or 39 at Terminal Three, two or three times a day. As I recall, they were around for maybe six months. At this writing, there is no scheduled airline service between LAX and Carlsbad. Also of interest from the opening photo: Virgin America is also no longer around, having been taken over by Alaska; and Allegiant no longer has the B757 in their fleet. Nor do Alaska or Allegiant operate out of Terminal Three anymore.
