Shot of the day: Visiting dignitary

The United States is not the only nation to have an Air Force One. Korean Air Force One passed through LAX last week. Thanks again to CG, who took these shots in my absence.

  1. Do you happen to know the call sign of Korea's Air Force One or is it Air Force One?

    1. Yes, I think it's time for an update. The last time I worked A1, their radios were awful.

    1. Welcome, and thanks for stopping by! We have several Mt. Sac alums at LAX, and a couple of our folks do some guest instructing in the sim there. We also have a Korean American in the tower, and I personally saw him "save the day" several years ago by being able to issue a control instruction in Korean to a wayward freighter that was about to cross an occupied runway.

I wish I had encouraging words for those who want to enter the ATC profession, but until the congress gets their budget act together, we aren't hiring. Everyone seems to think that the sequester storm has blown over, but it starts all over again come October first, when the federal government enters a new fiscal year - and faces another round of mandatory budget cuts (on top of the ones that have already happened).

      Study hard, and good luck!

    2. Thank you very much for encouraging words. :)
Your blog is on one of the first bookmarks that I visit almost every day! :)
Yeah I heard the budget issue from former instructor who is now working at Oakland center. It seems pretty tough. :( So I am thinking about join military (army or air force) and choose career as airport management related! (I might be over 30 yrs old after the service, so I thought about the job that I can get after military.) Because what I like are anything around airport and airplane, I always enjoy seeing and working near near me, Sounds a bit less passionate about ATC, but I am always passionate about airplane! Hope you have the greatest days and I did not know there is a Korean American in LAX tower. I've known there is a Korean American ATC at New York approach, who told in Korean to Korean air pilots that "advice me whenever you change speed". I hope I could visit KLAX tower to meet you and the Korean American ATC.
Actually, I visit KLAX pretty often, because my parents comes two times almost every year. And I always bring my little radio scanner too. (Don' be freaked out. I won't be recording @_@)
Thank you very much for your replying and Gooooood Day! ^_^
