Yours truly is currently on a cross-country road trip with MINI Takes The States. In the meantime, here's a sight that's becoming less and less common at LAX: Two passenger B747s together.
Thanks Captain for the heavy sets of the jumbo 747 photos. That is quite a sight. I have flown with China airlines a few times on the Jumbo jet and there is nothing like it. Recently, I hear sone new voices on in the tower both North and South and occasionally on ground frequencies. Are they new hires? It is nice to hear new nice sounding voices on the air band
Enjoy your road trip. I did 9 states and 4950 miles in 13 days. Delivered my youngest to her new home in Chicago. My empty nest is ½ empty now. My son drove most of the way there, then he flew home from ORD and my 89 year old Mom and I went to MN and then home with me doing all the driving. Thankfully we were ahead or behind of the weather. But hit lots and lots of wind on 80 in WY, UT and NV. Finally saw at ground level what I've seen at 35K. Amazing country we have. Safe travels!
Great picture........!!!!!!....why is it becoming less and less common to see 2 747's....together.....do you mean 2 in close proximity or 2 at any given time.......at LAX...??.....again.......Have a great road trip.....passing through my St. Louie.....Stay Safe.....!!
Passenger B747s are becoming less common at LAX as the type is replaced by more efficient twin-engine models. Fiji, for instance, quit bringing in B747s earlier this year in favor of A330s. Likewise, Philippines has recently replaced their B747s at LAX with B777-300s. The one exception so far has been Lufthansa, who has upgraded their B747s at LAX to the new B747-8i model. At present, they're the only operator of passenger B748s at LAX; all the rest we get are freighters.

We do have some new folks at LAX, and some more on the way. Of course, we're losing a few as well . . .

Fun. That's also one of the most clear shots of the L.A. Basin that I've seen in years. Great job and enjoy your roadie thing. -C.
ReplyDeleteGot lucky with that; thanks!
