Sightings: JetBlue

After an unseasonably hot and fiery May, June has arrived -- and with it, June Gloom, with the attendant gray photos. However, even though conditions for photography are less than ideal, there are things to show you. Today, a couple of shots of JetBlue aircraft that I haven't previously seen at LAX. The opening shot features a special Binary Code tail livery that commemorates JetBlue's new inflight wideband internet service, Fly-Fi. Then a new aircraft type in the second shot: The first JetBlue Airbus 321 that I've seen.

  1. While I appreciate the JB shot of the new 321, I am much more interested in the 777 in the background. The livery seems to indicate
a private jet. Any thoughts or information on the owner?

  2. Who operates the large (777?) aircraft in the background of the second photo?

  3. What's that 777 parked behind the B6 A321?

  4. Interesting. Does the second shot include part of the extreme south ramp, what used to be called the Imperial Terminal? The background airplane appears to be a B777, but in a livery that I've never seen before. South terminal? Perhaps part of the FBO operations? Is that Big One a 'private' aircraft or perhaps a charter? Do you ever post comments and/or answer questions? Why is June so bad for pix? Is it just the air quality and haze? I used to wonder about the 'blue haze' in most of your pix, but finally realized that you must shoot through the light-filtering shades of the tower's cab! "Hold on guys, shade going up for a picture..." does not cut it and I understand. How often to the managing powers wash the outside of your windows? Regards, -C.

  6. That private 777 in the second pic is a beaut. I tried magnifying the picture to attempt to read the reg "Enhance, Enhance!". When that didn't work I went off to Airliners.net using the search term "private". It was surprisingly easy to find. VP-CAL is apparently a 777-200LR. The range must be enormous! I suppose the aircraft is able to link any two airports on the globe, provided both runways are long enough!
In the first pic, I presume the construction is on the Charlie-10 alley, or adjacent ramp.
The satellite antennas on the jetBlue planes look really big.
