Photo quiz

I looked out the window and learned something last week. This is what I saw; what do you think I learned?

  1. Is volaris.com written on the bottom of the fuselage? It looks like there is writing on the aft luggage compartment door that would face down when it's closed.

    1. You're warm, but not quite. There is at least one carrier I know of (Emirates) that does have their name painted on the belly of the aircraft. I learned this when we had to send one of theirs around and it overflew the airport. Unlike most people, we don't usually get to see the belly of the airplane.

    1. Not vertigo, but I do wonder what the picture was before they pixelated it!

    1. Yes! Yes, it does. Which makes perfect sense, but it hadn't occurred to me until I saw what was clearly once a front baggage door in the aft position. Now if I can just find an old photo to prove it!

    2. Sorry, can't help. My only shot is of the left side (from Imperial Hill). BTW, did you make the big memorabilia convention at the Sheraton Thurs-Sat? Perhaps you noticed an increase of people on the Theme Bldg on Saturday, if you were working.

    3. I didn't attend the show, but there were some freind-of-a-friend controllers from out of town there. They stopped by the tower on their way out and resisted all attempts at recruitment!

  7. forward and aft cargo doors are interchangeable on an a320 because the "O" on the aft door was painted on the front of another aircraft

    1. Yup! And this is probably why their planes now have the names painted above the baggage door, instead of across it.

  9. New winglets on A320 series. I noticed this on a Spirit A320 out of FLL a couple of weeks ago.
