More July 4th video
The first video I showed you was shot shortly after sundown, before the official displays began. This video shows about four and a half minutes of the El Segundo fireworks, which were clearly visible from the tower - those of us working the south side had a front-row seat. Those who were on the north side of the tower were able to watch the fireworks at Marina del Rey, which were just as nice and just as visible.

July 4th
I had to work the evening of July 4th. While this would be a downer for most folks, spending the evening at the tower is a great way to see some of the local fireworks - we have a good view of the El Segundo and Marina del Rey displays. Of course, long before the official displays begin, the whole city becomes a carpet of fireworks for as far as the eye can see. I caught a bit of this with the camera in video mode; this silent video runs a bit less than two minutes, and starts looking out east over the city, and then tracks an arriving aircraft on final for runway 25 left.
