Last I heard, this airplane was on the ground at Ellington Field, outside of Houston, near the Johnson Space Center. This is the first of the two Shuttle Carrier Aircraft; the other has already been retired to serve as parts for another NASA B747. This one started out life with American Airlines, and prior to shuttle duty was used in wake turbulence research.
I don't think its even possible for you to take a bad pic.....of course to us "Aviation Geeks"........there's NO such thing as a plane 'plane' pic.....Thanks so much...I hope you don't mind but I put your link........on my face book page....there are a lot of LAX spotters.......that hang out there....damn hoodlums.......kidding....Keep up the great work Captain Vector....Its appreciated....very much!!!..

ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by, and glad you enjoy it!
DeleteThe first pic needs a sign on top of the aircraft that reads, "If you can read this, my shuttle has fallen off".
