I like planes that are happy. Wunala Dreaming always made me think of getting across the Pacific to down under. Shamu and Salmon Thirty Salmon made me laugh.
There seems to be some new voices (female) in the tower during the afternoon hours these days. Are people getting ready for the furloughs? They were talking to one AA flight I believe and had to do some jockeying to get him to the right slope and his response was "over the river and through the woods". Made me laugh out loud and scare my dog.
Now that you mention it, I haven't seen Wunala Dreaming in some time now, and it's been a while since I've seen the Salmon jet too. Had two Shamus the other day, though.
About twenty percent of the controllers at LAX are female. We have a female manager, a female supervisor, a female in traffic management (flow control), and a female training specialist, as well as another female controller currently in training.
It's always entertaining when we have to give somebody the scenic route to get them where they're going. Sometimes you have to go right in order to go left, and getting a pilot to do that can be like leading a horse away from the barn.

DeleteHave you seen their plane with the glass floor?
ReplyDeleteNo, but I once fly in one with a (plexi)glass door.
