With all the mergers in recent years, it's nice to see airlines remembering their roots with the occasional retro livery. Plus, it makes for a pleasant change of scenery when looking out the window!
Nice to see the retro liveries. I just wish the US airlines would have put them on US made aircraft as Airbus was not even around when these liveries were in use.
+1 I've caught the Friendship at KSFO and KSAN and I had the same thought-- it belongs on a Boeing jet.
Mergers are weird. US Air bought America West, dumped the name, but in Calif at least, they are 'Cactus' on the radio. I bet neither Cactus nor the AmWest retro jet survive the AA/US Air merger. Bye bye PSA jet, too. Maybe AA will keep a retro bare aluminum jet.
The retro US Airways looks great! Now with the merger, ia AA staying at 4?
ReplyDeleteDon't know yet, but that would be my guess. I've heard SWA wants US Air's gates at Terminal 1.
