The LAX Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting trucks salute the return of a fallen soldier
In the United States, the last Monday in the month of May is Memorial Day. Originally known as Decoration Day in the years after the Civil War, it is a day for remembering those who have died while serving in the US armed forces. Flags are flown at half-staff until noon, whereupon they are raised to full height.
That is such a cool and poignant photo!
ReplyDeleteThanks for this photo. I was waiting for a flight once at MCI and the plane we were waiting to get on was unloading a casket of a fallen soldier. Everyone in the terminal was standing and looking out the windows during the unloading. It was so quiet you could hear a pin drop. When it was done we all sang the National Anthem. It was a very moving experience.
